ActiveVoter helps political advertisers make Connected TV campaigns more efficient by using current voter data to identify and remove voters who have already cast their ballots from eligible audiences.
Because voter data is governed by a combination of federal, state, and local requirements, ActiveVoter availability may vary by state or jurisdiction.
Why does availability vary?
States establish their own rules governing how voter and consumer data can be collected, shared, licensed, and used. These requirements can differ significantly from one state to another and may change as new legislation, regulations, or enforcement guidance is introduced.
JamLoop works with Aristotle, our voter data partner, to ensure ActiveVoter audiences are activated only where the underlying data can be supported in accordance with applicable requirements.
As a result, certain states or jurisdictions may be unavailable for ActiveVoter targeting, even when other JamLoop targeting capabilities remain available in those locations.
What happens when regulations change?
Political data regulations can evolve quickly. When a change affects Aristotle's ability to provide or activate voter data in a particular jurisdiction, JamLoop may restrict ActiveVoter availability there.
For example, recent changes to New Jersey's data privacy laws introduced new restrictions around the sale and licensing of certain categories of sensitive personal data. The law prompted uncertainty among political campaigns and data providers regarding permissible voter-targeting activities and its enforcement.
In situations like these, JamLoop and our partners may take a conservative approach and limit availability while the regulatory landscape is clarified.
What does this mean for my campaign?
If ActiveVoter is unavailable in a location you're targeting, you can continue using JamLoop's other eligible geographic and audience-targeting options. The restriction applies specifically to the availability of ActiveVoter data in that jurisdiction.
Availability can change over time as laws, regulations, and partner data policies evolve. JamLoop will continue working with Aristotle to provide ActiveVoter wherever it can be responsibly and compliantly supported.
